Dublin Jerome’s boys golf team repeated as OHSAA Division I state champion, and the top of the individual leaderboard belongs to one Dublin family: senior Brady Barnum won a second straight individual crown, while sophomore brother Blaise finished as state runner-up.
Playing the South Course at NCR Country Club in Kettering, the Celtics posted a two-day team score of 574, leaving the rest of the field well behind. Cincinnati St. Xavier finished second at 599 — 25 strokes back — and New Albany took third at 603.
The Barnum brothers carried the team title. Brady shot 66 and 73 for a 139, and Blaise shot 71 and 70 for a 141, two strokes behind his brother.
Brady said, “Having this actually happen is pretty surreal.” Blaise, the sophomore, added, “I was so locked in today that I didn’t realize it until after.”
A family leap, and a program’s mark
Blaise’s runner-up finish is a sharp jump. A year ago, he shot 157 and finished outside the top five while Brady won the individual title with a two-day 137 (69-68) and the Celtics took the team trophy at 578. Toku Fujiwara of Lakota West was last year’s runner-up at 140.
Dublin Jerome head coach Brad Sparling had a simple read on the brothers. “I need more Barnums,” he said, and of the senior he added, “I don’t need to do anything with him except ask if he wants a drink or snack.”
The Celtics’ public-school program now has 11 OHSAA boys golf state championships, with previous crowns in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2025. That includes multi-year runs in 2011-13 and 2017-19, and now back-to-back titles — the mark of a program built for more than one good year.
Dublin’s golf lineage
The title fits a town that already lives golf. Dublin is home to Muirfield Village Golf Club, host of the Memorial Tournament, the PGA Tour event founded and hosted by Jack Nicklaus.
Brady’s own résumé extends beyond the state bracket. Entering the tournament he was ranked No. 9 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings and committed to the University of Georgia. Earlier in 2026 he earned the final spot on the U.S. Junior Presidents Cup team and helped the Americans win 17.5-6.5.
As Brady heads to Georgia and Blaise returns with two years of eligibility, the 1-2 sweep and the repeat title cement Dublin Jerome as the team the rest of Ohio is now chasing.
